Meet Marco, a second generation bio-dynamic farmer who produces our stunning Macadamia Oil.

His company Wodonga Park Fruit & Nuts is based in the Blackbutt ranges, QLD Australia. It is here that his farm grows high-quality Australian produce such as macadamia nuts and avocados, of which some are then pressed for macadamia oil and avocado oil.

Wodonga Park believes in doing things “nature’s way”. The current team have more than 30 years of experience in bio-dynamic farming between them.

They apply bio-dynamic preparations and natural remedies to enhance the quality of their crops, and release predators such as lady beetles and wasps to tackle pests that can damage the plants and trees. Synthetic herbicides and fertilisers are never used, instead nature is emulated. Fertility is further increased by adding rock-dust and other natural fertilisers such as compost, fish, and kelp emulsion. Nature cannot be perfected upon.

His Macadamia Oil is outstanding.

It has high levels of palmitoleic acid (a naturally occurring skin lipid) which increases your skin’s elasticity, and improves moisture retention. It also has high levels of vitamin E, an anti-oxidant that fights off free radicals, known to play a large part in the ageing process.

Macadamia oil is truly one of the best, most compatible oils for skin because it is lightweight, non-greasy and non-comedogenic.

We hope you’ll love reading all about his story, and what it takes to produce this exquisite oil that ends up in your hands, and on your skin… enjoy.

What made you want to get into it in the first place?

My father began the farm in 1987, he was already an organic convert and had quite some experience which he then applied to macadamias and avocados when he developed the farm.

His reasons for going organic were primarily:

1. Not wanting to use chemicals.

2. Realising chemicals were not a solution in themselves but a band-aid.

3. Wanting to grow food that is nutritious and healthy.

How big a part of your everyday life is buying organic?

Our family tries to buy organic where possible and we enjoy the many wonderful, tasty, and nutritious products on offer.

What would your no.1 tip be for someone looking at getting into organic farming?

Go in with an open mind and a closed wallet.

As in other sectors, there are plenty of shiny products but simplicity works the best: basic composts made on farm and speciality products where they are needed.

If the soil life is healthy, the plants will be healthy, and the crop nutritious and naturally more resistant to attack by pests and diseases.
